Florence in a day?! | Italy
Heading to Florence and don’t have much time but want to squeeze the best of the best in? I got you covered.
Make your way to Le Menagere for breakfast — I recommend the pancakes with fresh fruit! The atmosphere is very comfortable and the aesthetic is very nice. You can also grab a quick pastry.
Book a ticket and time to go to the top of the Duomo for a view of the city. The ticket includes the entrance to the bell tower too. Try to book this in advance because time slots sell out and there are days that the Duomo or tower are closed
Hit up Shake Cafe for a coffee or snack! There are multiple locations but if you are looking to sit down, go to the Via Camillo Cavour 69 location. It is bigger and has a seating section where students are usually always studying and doing work.
Panini shops are very popular in this city which is what you need to get for lunch. You will hear that you must try All’antico Vinaio — a famous shop. They are so famous that they have three locations right next to each other. But, it is always crowded. I suggest heading over to SandwiChic for a cheaper and even better option.
Check what time the sun sets when you are there to plan the rest of your day filled with museums and shopping. Grab a bottle of wine and head across the bridge to Piazzale Michaelangelo. Get enough of a head start because there are lots of steps to climb so you need enough time to get to the top before the sun sets. Hope for a good sunset this day but even without, this is the best view of the city that you are going to get. (don’t forget a bottle opener!) Also, it helps to wear comfortable shoes for this climb but is even possible to do with crutches (yes, actually), so don‘t worry about activity level.
After sunset, cross the bridge again and head to dinner. There are so many good options but Il Teatro was my favorite of the week. Order the pasta balls for an appetizer! You can’t go wrong with a pizza but the gnocchi is also a hit.
Save some room for dessert! You can find gelato on any street corner but for the best option go to Gelateria dei Neri — try the cookies n cream flavor!
